Ubisoft's The Division movie adds Deadpool 2's director

Marvel.

Ubisoft's ambitions to turn The Division into a film are still, slowly, rumbling along.

Announced several years ago, the project now has a new director attached - David Leitch, who has just finished work on Deadpool 2 (thanks, Variety).

Hollywood stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Chastain are still down to front the movie, which is expected to dramatise the post-pandemic New York setting seen in Ubisoft's shared world shooter. Here's hoping it's better than some of the banter below.

Filming on the project is expected to now begin in 2019, after director Leitch films his next project - a Fast and Furious spin-off starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham.

Gyllenhaal previously starred in Prince of Persia, another Ubisoft-backed film.

Ubisoft recently announced The Division 2 was in development. We're expecting to hear more about that in a couple of months at E3.
