This Starfield puddle exploit lets you rob an entire store's inventory for free

"Make bank, wait 24 hours, and do it all over again."

Another day, another Starfield exploit. This one lets players plunder the inventory of the poor unsuspecting shopkeeper in Akila City.

Just like Skyrim's old infinite money glitch, players have found a sneaky way to rob the Shepherd's General Store if they're in third-person and situate themselves just-so in front of a very unassuming puddle.

"WOW," YouTuber JamieMoranUK posted to X/Twitter. "If you go to Akila City, look in a puddle in front of the store, Shepherds. You can get all the store's inventory for FREE.

Make bank, wait 24 hours and do it all over again."

Of course, the usual caveats apply, so you'll have to be in full incognito mode to ensure no interferring busybody notices your nefarious ways and grasses you up.

A similar glitch occurs in front of Rowland Arms, too, as Moran demonstrates for us below:

Within hours, Moran updated his Twitter thread with, "People in my replies are already saying me posting it is bad", although it's unclear if detractors are upset about people exploiting the game this way, or just annoyed Moran brought the exploit to the world's – and Bethesda's – attention.

For now, though, both exploits are still live, so fill your boots… if you have any inventory space left, of course.

Thinking about jumping into Starfield but worried about the levelling up grind? This player has a top tip for you.

YouTuber Maka91Productions has released a full guide about their clever way to maximise your Starfield XP. Admittedly, you won't be able to get to it immediately – you'll need some skill points and the Outpost Engineering skill to set it up, as well as be pretty comfortable with the game's mechanics – but once you've a few hours under your belt, make sure you research power generation and resource extractors at a Research Laboratory.

We gave the space adventure 3 out of 5 stars in the Eurogamer Starfield review, saying "Starfield pairs near-impossible breadth with a classic Bethesda aptitude for systemic physics, magnetic sidequests, and weird vignettes. But in sacrificing direct exploration for the sake of sheer scale, there's nothing to bind it together".

Earlier today we learned that NexusMods banned a Starfield mod that permitted players to removed pronoun options from the game.
