Namco Bandai has revealed it's working on Soul Calibur IV for Xbox 360 and PS3.

It's expected in the U.S. sometime next year, with official confirmation of publishers and dates for Europe coming soon.

Project Soul will be creating the game, which will add a swathe of new characters and modes to the legendary fighting mix. It's also giving the team a chance to focus on the first real next-generation outing for the series, meaning we may well see some exciting multiplayer additions on top of gorgeous visuals.

Namco Bandai recently announced it would be making a Wii instalment called Soul Calibur Legends. It's due to feature nifty controller options, although any Wi-Fi support is unconfirmed.

The most recent outing was Soul Calibur III for PS2. It came out back in 2005 and added another considerable notch on the fighting series' belt, although it failed to reach the critical plaudits received by previous games.

The new trailer for Soul Calibur IV is expected on Eurogamer TV soon, so keep your eyes peeled.
