Professor Layton ships over 11 million

Level-5 puzzler a global phenomenon.

Over 11 million Professor Layton games have been shipped across the world, creator Level-5 has announced.

Or, to be precise, 11.47 million split across four DS games: Professor Layton and the Curious Village, Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box, Professor Layton and the Unwound Future and Professor Layton and the Specter's Flute.

The impressive figure does not include shipments for 3DS launch title Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask, Andriasang reports.

Professor Layton and the Curious Village launched in February 2007 in Japan, February 2008 in North America and November 2008 in Europe.

It wowed core and mainstream DS fans with its fusion of smart puzzles and enchanting visuals.

John Walker reviewed for Eurogamer, turning up a 9/10.
