Eidos plans more Deus Ex and Thief titles

Former president Rob Dyer says there will be more Deus Ex and Thief titles, but that the games will have more of a "consumer focus".

Eidos is planning a third Deus Ex title and another, more modern Thief title, according to comments made by former Eidos president Rob Dyer while he was still at the company, which surfaced in an online interview earlier this week.

Speaking in an interview on 1UP.com, Dyer said Eidos was "going to try to get more of a consumer focus into [its] games," and new Deus Ex and Thief titles would be symbolic of this shift in approach.

"Deus Ex: Invisible War was a good game with solid reviews, but not enough people bought it. We'll fix that in the future. There definitely will be a Deus Ex 3. People want another Thief, too. We'll make that series more modern, though," he said, adding, "the medieval thing's run its course," which is sure to bound to upset fans of Garrett's shadow-hopping antics.

Dyer also indicated that Eidos would develop for any formats that came its way in the next few years. "We're completely platform-agnostic," he said. "Whatever the machine, we'll be there." Dyer himself won't be, of course, having taken up the post of Crave president and COO earlier this August.
