Zelda gets Revolutionised

Having already quashed rumours of a Revolution exclusive for the much delayed Zelda: Twilight Princess, Nintendo has revealed that there will in fact be some additional features for the game that are exclusive to the company's new machine.

None of which will come as a surprise to the chaps at UK-based NGC magazine, who said as much ages ago only for Nintendo to claim it was "pure speculation".

But, speaking in a recent interview with the official Nintendo of Europe website, no less than Shigeru Miyamoto himself has confirmed that there will in fact be some compatibility with the new Revolution controller.

He also said that the game is coming along nicely - although he failed to give any further indication as to exactly when it might be finished.

"I would say that we are progressing well with completing it," Miyamoto stated.

"One of the most important features is that, because Revolution can run GameCube software, when you play Twilight Princess on Revolution you can take advantage of the Revolution controller."

Little more has been revealed about exactly how this will work, although according to Hyrule.net, Nintendo confirmed that in a separate interview, Miyamoto gave the example of using the new controller to throw a boomerang, or "shoot an arrow by pointing the controller at the target on the screen and pressing a button."

The latest Zelda game is, for many, the only reason left to keep the dust off of the GameCube, and its repeated delays have caused considerable frustration for fans. News of its compatibility with the new console may lift spirits a little, but, for the sceptics, it might also go some way to explaining the extensive delays in actually getting the game finished and on the shelves.

Miyamoto has stated that almost everything there is left to know about the Revolution will be revealed at the E3 expo in May, and it's likely we'll get a much firmer update on the progress of Twilight Princess at that time.
