Namco working on Popeye GBA title

Di-da-di-da-di-DA! Du-di-da-du-DA-di-DAAA!

Brilliantly, Namco is preparing to release a side-scrolling 2D racing title for Game Boy Advance this April based on Popeye.

Popeye: Rush for Spinach will see players take control of Popeye, Olive Oyl, Bluto and Wimpy and race to try and defeat the Sea Hag witch (boo!), who has stolen the world's supply of spinach to feed her ghosts (hiss!).

There are a series of one-on-one races against each character on each level, and you can also play against human opponents, and there will be 7 lands in total including the docks, desert, jungle and even the moon.

Players will use "vehicles" including chickens, pogo sticks, boats, skateboards, dinosaurs, cars (how novel!), jet packs and rockets, but only have limited time with each before they disappear. In addition, power-ups like instant acceleration will be available, and you'll even be able to turn opponents into chickens.

It's probably of more interest to our younger followers (or our parent-y followers perhaps) than anyone else, but, at the risk of editorialising, this does sound like the best game ever and clearly deserves 10/10.
