AMD's new software tool

Makes your games look better.

AMD has released a new piece of software that's designed to enhance the video performance of games running on the Athlon 64 FX processor.

Snappily titled the AMD Dual-Core Optimizer, it's designed for use with games that ignore Windows' time-stamp counter, which can have an effect on frame rates.

AMD reckons that the OS can compensate for the impact power management systems have on the frequency with which the CPU's timer is updated - but the processor can't. This can cause problems whether you're using a dual-core or multi-processor machine. The Optimizer corrects this by replicating what the OS does, making sure that the correct timing information is passed on.

You can download the AMD Dual-Core Optimizer via AMD.com.
