Microsoft Game Studios is working on a new South Park title for Xbox 360, according to the game development wing of brand owner Comedy Central.

When asked by Joystiq whether it fancied taking on the long-running cartoon series, 345 Games' creative director Prithvi Virasinghe revealed, "Right now, South Park is actually in a first-party deal with Microsoft Studios, who published the first game, and they're doing a second game as well."

"After that, that first-party exclusivity window expires, and we get a shot of taking that back."

345 was set up earlier this year by MTV to develop PSN and XBLA tie-ins for Comedy Central and Spike TV IPs. Its first release was Deadliest Warrior: Legends last week, with Ugly Americans: Apocalypsegeddon due later this year.

The last South Park game was Doublesix's solid 2009 XBLA release Let's Go Tower Defense Play!.
