MW2 comes with night-vision goggles

Working NVGs in Prestige Edition.

Infinity Ward has unveiled the Modern Warfare 2 "Prestige Edition" and revealed that it comes with a steelbook copy of the game, a download code for the original Call of Duty on Xbox Live or PSN and, er, a working set of night-vision goggles.

IW's Robert Bowling unboxed it on YouTube. They're "fully functioning NVGs", he pointed out - "night vision goggles, flip 'em on, alternating modes, MW2 branded, put 'em on, go outside."

They also come with a grey sculpted head as a stand, so if you don't intend to use them you can keep them on display.

Along with the regular edition and standalone limited-edition steelbook, they are all due out on 10th November. There's no word on price yet.

Activision hasn't got back to us about how much we can expect to pay yet, but an anonymous PR contact at another publisher gave us the impression we can expect to pay a fair whack for the privilege.

"I'm pretty good at what you can and can't make cheap in China," he explained, "and I can't find sub USD 50 night-vision goggles. Even if they make 100,000 of them it'd be USD 30 [per NVG set] which is way too high a cost of goods for a special pack."

Then again, there's a fair bit of interest in Modern Warfare 2, to say the least. Incidentally, for those keeping up with the ongoing saga about whether the game's called "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" or just "Modern Warfare 2", the Prestige Edition box in the video omits the COD branding.

Whatever. Check out our Modern Warfare 2 E3 preview if you haven't already.
