Matt Hazard PSN/XBLA out this week

Side-scrolling action parody.

Matt Hazard: Blood Bath and Beyond is due out on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade this week.

The side-scrolling shooter, developed by Vicious Cycle, will cost 1200 Microsoft Points (£10.20 / €14.40) when it launches on XBLA tomorrow worldwide.

So far only the US PlayStation blog has confirmed the PSN release for this Thursday, with a price tag of $14.99, but we'll let you know if there's European clarification.

Like its rubbish big brother Eat Lead, Blood Bath and Beyond sees Matt Hazard re-engaging with his fictional back catalogue of nemeses, including the super evil General Neutronov, who has travelled back in time and kidnapped the 8-bit version our hero.

The idea is that Matt Hazard is a washed-up videogame character forced back for one last hurrah. Two last hurrahs. In this one, he fights penguins, pirates, astronauts, Mounties and rhinos, among other things.

Look out for a review soon.
