Konami bringing karaoke to Wii, PS3, 360

Konami's Karaoke Revolution will become this generation's first multiformat sing-along when released on Wii, PS3 and 360 later this year (Q4).

Each game comes with a microphone peripheral - although it's unclear whether these will be wired or not - and has crowds that react dynamically to how well you warble. And there are some unfamiliar features, too.

One of the headline attractions will be Co-op Party Mode on PS3 and 360, where up to 16 people can tackle a variety of friendly and competitive challenges. There's no word on what exactly these will be, nor whether they will be sung online or locally.

Still, we're told players can either sing by themselves or in teams, and Karaoke Revolution lets song-lists be made that can be picked up and sung along to or left alone.

Customisable characters and venues are another boast, and use a face/body morphing mechanic that sounds spooky. The PlayStation Eye and Live Vision Camera will also be able to record performances and play them back as if players were inside the fantasy arenas.

We're promised 50 songs on the disc plus the option of downloading more from an online store at a later point. Clothes and accessories can be downloaded, too, and players can share their home-made venues with each other.
