Find out the Asus ROG Ally price and which UK and US retailers are stocking the PC gaming console.

The Asus ROG Ally, a new handheld gaming machine is out now in the UK and US. The Steam Deck rival costs £699.99/ $699 - about £131/$114.90 more than the top tier Steam Deck.

The Windows gaming handheld is packed with powerful features including an AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme CPU with Radeon graphics. It has a 7-inch Full HD touchscreen with a refresh rate up to 120 Hz offering stunning visuals and a smooth gaming experience, while its Dolby Atmos speakers provide a rich sound for immersive audio.

The Asus ROG Ally features Xbox-style controls that are easy to customise thanks to the machine's Armoury Crate UI. Its 600g weight makes it lighter and smaller than the Steam Deck while its ergonomic design and textured grips offer added comfort. Its dual fans also keep the console cooler and quieter than the Steam Deck.

Asus' new PC gaming console can be used for playing your PC games on the go and as a portable PC. It lets you enjoy your favourite PC games away from your desk, whether that's on your commute, on the sofa or in bed - but you can still hook it up to a monitor or your TV thanks its USB Type-C port.

You can read Digital Foundry's in-depth review and comparison between the Asus ROG Ally and Steam Deck here. In short, Digital Foundry concluded that the Asus ROG Ally outspecs the Steam Deck and offers improvements to the screen, noise and performance. Richard Leadbetter commented "it is the quietest PC gaming handheld I've ever tested." There are, however, some battery life issues, Windows limitations and bugs present that some might want to consider before purchasing.

Rock Paper Shotgun's James Archer also reviewed the Asus ROG Ally. He commented: "I wouldn't consider it a total upgrade on the Steam Deck – more like an alternative. But it is a viable alternative, and ultimately, losing some of the ease of use and battery life you get with a Deck isn’t a terrible tradeoff when you receive a nicer screen, more powerful internals, wider game compatibility, and faster storage in exchange".
