Namco Bandai has announced that it will close all servers for Hellgate: London, the online RPG from doomed studio Flagship, on 31st January 2009.
In a "further gesture of support", Namco is providing the servers free of charge until the shutdown date.
Developer Flagship ran out of money and shut up shop back in July. Since then, the status of Hellgate has been unclear, while sister project Mythos was abandoned in the late beta stage.
Both may yet return; Asian publisher T3 has the rights and was last seen setting up a new studio to continue work on the games.
But it now seems that Namco Bandai will not be involved, and Hellgate faces, at best, a long hiatus from our screens.
