There's a mystery third person shooter in development at EA, according to a new job listing.

Spotted by Gamerzines, the post on the publisher's recruitment site reads, "EA Los Angeles is looking for an experienced multiplayer Level Designer to work on an unannounced third person shooter game with strong multiplayer focus."

The listing notes that the title will utilise DICE's Frostbite 2 engine, soon to be seen in Battlefield 3.

There's no official word on what the game is but speculation points towards a new Mercenaries title. EA confirmed its LA studio was working on the franchise back in 2009 following the demise of original developer Pandemic, but all has been quiet since.

Pandemic shut up shop shortly after the release of Mercenaries 2: World in Flames back in 2008, which won a meagre 5/10 from Eurogamer's Kristan Reed. Hopefully a fresh set of eyes will pay dividends for a third outing.
