Disney shuts Tron/Turok developer
Farewell Propaganda Games.Propaganda Games, the studio behind the recent Tron: Evolution movie tie-in, has been closed, owner Disney Interactive has confirmed.
According to Joystiq, a statement from Disney read, "Disney Interactive Studios confirms the closure of its Vancouver-based internal game development studio, Propaganda Games. The studio has completed all work associated with its most recent project."
Propaganda was started back in 2005 by a group of former EA employees. Its first release was the not-entirely-successful 2008 reboot of the Turok series on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Following that, a planned Pirates of the Caribbean game was cancelled earlier this year, which led to over 100 staffers being laid off.
Turns out that was the beginning of the end. Tron: Evolution, which won a 7/10 from Eurogamer's Dan Whitehead last October, will stand as the studio's epitaph.
