Free arcade MMO looks sweet.

gPotato has announced that it has opened pre-registration for the closed beta test of its new free-to-play arcade MMO for PC, Dragonica.

We bring you this news because we've had occasion to see Dragonica a couple of times, and we think it looks pretty tidy, actually.

The game is a side-scrolling platformer crossed with an MMORPG in the mould of Nexon's MapleStory - only with slicker 3D graphics, unbearably cute art, combo-laden combat, and a bucketload of arch gaming and pop culture references. The sales pitch is "the MMO you can play with a SNES pad", which is both true and good enough to repeat here.

Check out the images and video at our Dragonica gamepage, taking care to note the way the Thief turns into Michael Jackson and Metal Gear Solid's cardboard box seven minutes into the careers video.

You can sign up for the beta at the Dragonica website. We should get our own beta access soon, so we'll see you on there, and watch out for a hands-on report before too long.
