Bayonetta 2 physical Switch launch down on Wii U

But...

Bayonetta 2 sold fewer physical copies at launch for Nintendo Switch this week than it did when it arrived on Wii U.

The Platinum-developed Bayonetta 2 (which includes a copy of Bayo 1) landed fifth in the UK chart - the game's highest chart placing to date, albeit one achieved with fewer physical sales.

Perhaps there was not enough new in the port to convince Bayonetta fans it was worth double dipping so soon? Digital Foundry last week examined whether this new Switch edition was the definitive version.

It's likely a higher percentage of Switch sales came via downloads, which UK numbers company Chart-Track does not track. Bayonetta 2's physical edition still requires you to download Bayonetta 1 (you only get a download code).

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Bayonetta series' biggest physical launch to date remains the original Bayonetta's 2010 arrival for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, in the prime of both console's life.

Other new entries in the chart included Kingdom Come Deliverance, in at second place behind FIFA 18, and Dynasty Warriors 9 in 13th place.

The Secret of Mana re-release for PlayStation 4 landed down in 24th place, while Monster Energy Supercross swerved to 25th.
