How to unlock Link in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity
Link is obviously the first character you play as in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity and you'll unlock him properly after completing the game's first mission - Chapter 1, The Battle for Hyrule Field.
Link has three different types of weaponry he can use - one-handed, two-handed and spears.
When you first unlock him, Link will only be able to use one-handed weapons, but, once you find a two-handed weapon or a spear during a mission, these new types of combat will automatically unlock.
All you have to do is select the two-handed weapon or the spear as Link's chosen weapon before beginning either a challenge, quest or story mission.
Depending on which weapon type you chose, Link will be able to use one of three unique abilities.
For one-handed weapons, Link will let loose a flurry of arrows. You will also be able to power through a strong attack by holding down the X button and, if released when the attack ends, Link should unleash an extra attack during a combo.
When wielding a two-handed weapon, Link's unique action will allow him to unleash a powerful attack, but, the downside, is that it will cause him a small amount of damage. Thankfully, you can press X afterwards to eat a meal, which will heal the self-inflicted damage.
If you don't do this quickly enough, however, Link will keep this damage.
Finally, for spears, Link will attack his enemies with a thrust attack. The unique action will allow you to charge towards you enemies and this attack can be used even in the middle of other attacks.

When Zelda is in her luminescent form, her attacks will be stronger and any enemies within a ring of light will take increased damage from her Arrows of Light attack. The downside, however, is that the luminescent form will grain Zelda's special attack gauge.
