This Gigabyte gaming laptop is $400 off for Black Friday - save 25%

Get the Gigabyte Aorus 15P with RTX 3060 at its cheapest.

If you don't want the hassle of building a gaming PC and prefer to have the convenience of a gaming laptop, then choosing one with recent components is essential. That's why we've selected this Aorus 15P laptop from Best Buy, which has been reduced from $1599 to $1199 for Black Friday.

The Aorus 15P comes with an RTX 3060 graphics card and Core i7 11800H processor - the very latest from both Intel and Nvidia. The high-end CPU provides snappy performance and high frame-rates at 1080p, while the RTX 3060 dedicated graphics card gives you good gaming performance, fancy ray tracing and DLSS, a practical tech that boosts frame-rates substantially in supported games. That makes a massive difference to how future-proof a laptop is, and it's why we tend to recommend RTX 3060 laptops over their GTX series counterparts!

Behind the CPU and GPU, the screen is probably the most important component in any gaming laptop - and the Aorus has a great one. It comes with a 15.6-inch 1080p display that runs at a refresh rate of 240Hz, making it ideal for playing fast-paced games like FPS or racing titles. Games like Valorant, Counter-Strike, Rocket League and DotA 2 can easily run into the hundreds of fps with a high-end CPU like the Core i7 11800H, and having a high refresh rate screen means that you'll really be able to take advantage of those high frame-rates. In modern AAA games, you can expect lower frame-rates, but performance should still be strong at 1080p. This is also a modern IPS display, so you can expect gorgeous colour reproduction and wide viewing angles.

Finally, the Aorus 15P comes with 16GB of RAM and a capacious 512GB PCIe 4.0 SSD to shave down load times. To get you started, the laptop also comes with a token for one month of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, valid for new Xbox Game Pass members, so you'll have plenty to play right out of the box.

The Aorus 15P has gotten strong critical and user reviews alike, with reviewers praising its slim and lightweight design, solid gaming performance and responsive keyboard. However, it only runs for about four or five hours at full tilt, so it's not a machine you'll be able to work on all day without needing a recharge. Thankfully, recharges are at least rapid, and port selection is good with Thunderbolt on board for connecting an external GPU if you want even more gaming firepower in the future. Overall, it's a well-balanced machine that got a solid response on launch - and at this price, it's pretty exceptional.

Best Buy have more gaming laptops on offer for Black Friday, so if you're looking for something a little more affordable, you can't go wrong with the Dell G15 with RTX 3050 Ti down to $879.99 (saving $270) or the MSI GF65, which also includes an RTX 3060 and costs slightly less at $849.99 (saving $250).

While we don't have a similar laptop deal for those in the UK, if you're in the market for graphics cards, we've got you covered with our GPU deals roundup here. And be sure to follow us on @dealsfoundry for instant notifications on the latest deals for this Black Friday.

Will you support the Digital Foundry team?

Digital Foundry specialises in technical analysis of gaming hardware and software, using state-of-the-art capture systems and bespoke software to show you how well games and hardware run, visualising precisely what they're capable of. In order to show you what 4K gaming actually looks like we needed to build our own platform to supply high quality 4K video for offline viewing. So we did.

Our videos are multi-gigabyte files and we've chosen a high quality provider to ensure fast downloads. However, that bandwidth isn't free and so we charge a small monthly subscription fee of $5. We think it's a small price to pay for unlimited access to top-tier quality encodes of our content. Thank you.
