A new expansion, Onslaught, is coming to Star Wars: The Old Republic

"Free to all subscribers!"

Just in case you haven't had enough Star Wars this weekend, a new, free to subscribers expansion pack is coming to Star Wars: The Old Republic - the first in three years.

A blog post (thanks, PC Gamer) details the new expansion, Onslaught, confirming the update will not only bring a whole new story, but two new planets, a new Flashpoint, a new Operation, and new abilities, too.

"Star Wars: The Old Republic: Onslaught puts you at the center of the reignited war between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire. Will you remain loyal to your faction or work to undermine and sabotage their war efforts? The choice is yours," the blog post teases.

"Explore two new planets, a new Flashpoint on the war-torn world of Corellia, a new Operation set in the lush jungles of Dxun and more! Reap the spoils of war with reworked itemization, an increased level cap, and new abilities. Star Wars: The Old Republic: Onslaught is coming September 2019, free to all subscribers!"

The update will also give you access to Onderon - a new planet of "untamed jungles and savage beasts" - and Mek-Sha, "an independent fueling station and boomtown built in the hollows of a mined-out asteroid once controlled by the Hutts" that's described as a "lawless den of smugglers, pirates, mercenaries, traders, and refugees".

While a definitive date has not been confirmed, Star Wars: The Old Republic: Onslaught is expected to release sometime in September 2019.

Respawn's Vince Zampella confirmed yesterday that upcoming Star Wars game Jedi: Fallen Order is a single-player story adventure with no multiplayer and, crucially, no microtransactions. EA has also promised it won't add microtransactions or loot boxes to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order post-launch, either.
