Bandai Namco has officially announced the inclusion of Raphael in Soulcalibur 6 following a recent leak.

The fighting game's famous French fencer appears in the game with his trusty rapier, Flambert. As in previous versions of the game, Soulcalibur 6 Raphael looks fast and agile and annoyingly quick-striking.

Here's the backstory, according to Bandai Namco:

"Born to France's aristocratic Sorel family, Raphael was educated in the customs of high society from a young age. When he was older he instructed and rigorously trained in the art of swordsmanship. He used his knowledge and talent with the rapier to keep his family on top of high French society during the political turmoil and war. His cold and ambivalent nature gained him many enemies. When the France's political balance shifted during the Evil Seed event, his family handed him over to his enemies to save themselves. Raphael eventually escaped to the slums where he was saved by a young girl by the name of Amy."

We're getting to the business end of Bandai's Soulcalibur 6 marketing plan, and with the game set for launch on 19th October, there won't be many character reveals left. We're up to 21 announced characters now, including Geralt from The Witcher series and brand new characters Azwel and Grřh.
