First GBA sales figures

Want to know how many Nintendo managed to shift in Japan in the first week?

Nintendo's GameBoy Advance sold 531,000 units in the week ending 25th March, after a mere four days on sale, Japanese firm Media Create revealed today through MCV in this country. During the same time period, the rest of the market managed to shift less than a quarter of that, with the PlayStation 2 topping the charts at 70,000 units. Bear in mind though, that the PS2 sold nearly a million units in its first weekend or so on sale. Games-wise, sales were most impressive for Super Mario Advance, which stretched to an amazing 159,000 units, with F-Zero Advance in close attendance at 80,000.
