Activision buys B-Boy developer

FreeStyleGames doing new music IP.

Activision has splashed out to acquire UK studio FreeStyleGames, the developer behind PSP rhythm action game B-Boy.

The team will be put to work localising Guitar Hero content, as well as creating new music-based gaming IP, although there's no word on what this will be. Presumably because they haven't created it yet.

"Our goal has always been to deliver the most compelling entertainment experiences, and with the infrastructure, support and financial resources of Activision Publishing, we will be able to set our goals even higher than they are today," said Jamie Jackson from FreeStyleGames, while holding an elbow airchair freeze.

B-Boy popped onto the PSP back in 2006, looking pretty but lacking soul, at least according to Eurogamer's hip hop correspondent Matt Martin. Head over to his B-Boy review to find out why.
