343: There is no Gearbox Halo project

MS comments on rumour and speculation.

Microsoft has denied once and for all (probably) that Gearbox Software is working on a new Halo game following studio boss' Randy Pitchford's evasive behaviour in a Eurogamer interview last week.

Following a straightforward denial on the Halo Waypoint Twitter, a representative told GameSpot: "For the record, we can confirm that Gearbox is not working on a Halo project."

And, indeed, why should they be? Between the two Bungie games - Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach - and the new Halo Waypoint Xbox Live destination, not to mention the upcoming anime series, fans of the series should be amply served if nothing else.

Still, it does beg the question: why was Pitchford so evasive in the first place?
