Valkyria Chronicles gets firm release date News

PlayStation 3 News by Robert Purchese

30 September, 2008

SEGA plans to release Valkyria Chronicles exclusively on PS3 from 14th November.

But fans eagerly awaiting the attractive title need only wait until next Thursday 9th October for a demo, which will offer up a couple of early levels to sample.

Valkyria Chronicles is an action strategy game set in a fictitious 1930s Europe on the brink of war. Surprise.

Players hop into the boots of Welkin, commander of the underdogs, and buckle down to fight for freedom in the face of an ancient threat thought only to exist in legend, the Valkyria.

Battles are both turn-based and real-time; an overhead map view can be navigated at armchair pace, before jumping into individual battles and taking control of specific units.

Valkyria also uses the CANVAS game engine, which presents an arty and rather lovely watercolour style.

March into our Valkyria Chronicles gamepage for all the media released so far.

Great, I'm looking forward to the demo. This and LittleBigPlanet should do me nicely for Christmas.

Just checking the videos and this looks really quite interesting. This game would not usually be my cup of tea bit it just looks so lush.

I hope the control system isant to difficult to grasp, That is one thing that puts me of these type of games, Keep it simple. Looking forward to the Demo.

Jesus I don't know what to buy/pre-order... Cant cancel LBP that's to much fun. Resistance 2 !!! Motorstorm 2!!! Bioshock!!! and now Valkyria Chronicles!!! Arrggghhh...

By the way gamespot.com are doing a preorder bonus of an artbook
I doubt that anywhere will do that over in the uk and it will probs work out the same price anyway so it could be worth getting the american version

I m really excited about this, has the feel of 'Ring of Red' and one of my most anticipated PS3 game of 2008. Demo is great, as I believe it would confirm that this is indeed what I was looking for.

Excellent, I've been uming and ahing about this. Wondering whether the lovely art hides rather bland levels and clunky combat or whether it is rather good or not.

This is for Europe, guys. The 14th of November is a Friday, when we get our games. The Qore demo is out this week in the States, we get the demo on the 9th. A week later.

Loving this. This is an SRPG that fixes everything I think is wrong with SRPGs, and I can't wait to get my hands on it.

Yeah it really is good, already seen the Japanese version being played and it reminded me a bit of Jagged Alliance or the more realtime version of XCOM (the third one, cant remember what it was called). The interrupts while moving and being able to assign guard areas. Really key things.

Hi guys, Vertius is correct; the PAL demo will be available on PSN on the 9th to everyone – not limited by Qore which is an American-only deal.

I've managed to get some time with the final build of the game and it is amazing (I'm not just saying that LOL).
