New WipEout Pure content

For Europe and the US, hopefully.

Owners of WipEout Pure on both sides of the Atlantic should be able to take advantage of new content this week. Classic Pack 3 is now available for the American version, and - assuming Sony's sticking to the schedule it told us about last month - Classic Pack 1 should now be available for the European version.

Classic Pack 3, first, features one new track (Vohl Square) and one new ship (the Icarus, with an accompanying skin), while there are also two new classic tunes (Messij and Operatique, both from a group called Cold Stoage). Our memory doesn't work well enough to place any of this in the grand history of WipEout, but if you care about this sort of thing you probably don't need us to anyway.

As for Classic Pack 1 back in Europe - embarrassingly we can't actually check whether it's out because a person who is going to be very thoroughly lamped round the back of the head with a poster tube next time we see him has walked off with our copy. But, if it's out, and if memory serves, Classic Pack 1 has the Altima VII track from WipEout 1, Odessa Keys from WipEout XL and a Goteki 45 FX300 ship and skin. So when we say memory, we obviously mean our WipEout Pure pages.

didn't Cold Storage do most of the non licenced tunes back in wipeout 1?
  • speedjack #2 6 years ago

    Yup they did.

Anyone know if there is any way of using the Japanese content pack with a US copy of Wipeout Pure - I can't beleive no one has found a way of doing/hacking this yet !

    Just go to www.wipeoutpure.com

Didn't Classic pack 1 say it had two tracks but actually it only had one and two songs? The US one anyway.

any sign of 'Gare D'Europa' or 'Stanza Interpass' appearing in these classic packs?

    go on Sony Studio Scouse!

Guy's, I may sound stupid, why would we not be able to get hold of the American update for this? would it not work for some reason? (sorry if its a stupid question I'm new to all this)

    cheers

@terminalterror: the packs differ between the regions. There will probably only be 2 classic packs at all for europe, but they will have the same content as all the US-Packs combined. Gamma and delta were streamlined into one pack each, too.

I love delta pack for the speed feeling... :] although it strongly smells of puma droppings... :D

I quite like the Puma droppings it adds a touch of realism to the game... I think the Gamma and Delta tracks certainly get the speed out of the PSP though.

I noticed Japan has Coke skins and other various tracks endorsed by companies.

Wonder how much it would cost to get your very own personalised tracks?

I know that but I'm fairly certain that US Classic pack one was originally described as 2 tracks when instead you got 1 track and 2 tunes. they fixed the description after classic pack two came out.

I think you're right TT, there was only one race track in the first classic pack.
  • Planet #11 6 years ago

Ok then, TT, sorry to get you wrong in the first place.

BTW: i do not really mind the puma ads on the tracks, they are surely not too distracting, at least no more than the generic decorations.

Splitting the music and the other content into two packages is a nice move for the european classic pack i must say. Some probably turn of music anyway and wouldn't care about 2-4 new songs. Cold Storage really rawks for me though, they always provided my favorite song on any WipEout game, Pure being no exception. I am really looking forward to embrace Messij again (probably on europe classic music pack 2)! \o/

Glad i got the GIGA pack to take advantage of this feature. Any1 who wants to use their psp to its full power and to enjoy their games more, then a memory card from 256 MB and higher is needed. ive used 500MB on music, game saves, high definition images and replays already.

*takes out ridge racer, slots in wipe out pure.... turns on wifi... goes online...checks the list of downloads*

    GAMMA PACK - 13.1 MB

    DELTA PACK - 416 KB

    OMEGA PACK
    TRACKS - 17 MB
    SHIPS - 250 KB

    CLASSIC PACK 1 - 6.2 MB
    + ADDITIONAL MUSIC - 5.5 MB

    CLASSIC PACK 2 - 9.0 MB
    + ADDITIONAL MUSIC - 5.5 MB

Hmmm, memory size differs from the online claim to the data utility.

Those are the ones available to download, atleast in the UK anyways. They are all decent add ons, nothing to say badly about any1 of em realy.
