Euro Killzone 2 demo on Thursday
Play the first bits of Corinth River.
Sony has said that the European Killzone 2 playable demo will be made available through the PlayStation Store this Thursday, 5th February.
The demo consists of the first two sections of Corinth River, which is the first proper level of the game, so you'll finally get to run through the beach landing and warehouse sequence that's formed the basis of so many previews.
There's also a tutorial - the same one that features in the main game.
And of course if you haven't checked it out yet, the cinematic intro video
is available on Eurogamer TV.
Check out our Killzone 2 review if you haven't already. The full game's due out on 27th February.

I got really annoyed with the Killzone 1: not enough checkpoints, weird difficulty spikes, script ripped wholesale from 'Aliens' (even more than Halo 3!). The previews and early reviews suggest that everything might have pulled together for the sequel. It's still a definite play-before-purchase game, but I'm a lot more interested now than I was a few months ago.

I'm using wired network and never have problems downloading from PSN.

I was thinking the same thing about my 360 the other day... only the chances of it breaking under that strain are far greater.

I'm usually getting slow PSN download speeds as well. I haven't tried a wired connection, but my wireless signal very rarely drops below 90%, so it seems odd that it should have any negative impact on download speeds. Particularly as my PC is also connected wirelessly to the same router and speed tests on the new cable connection I've had for a week now says I'm consistently hitting 21-22 Mbit on my 25 Mbit line - which should translate to maximum download speeds of around 2.7 MB/s if the server on the other end can keep up and there aren't any "hiccups" along the way.
My experience so far on the PC has been that I can get anywhere from 150 kB/s to 2+ MB/s on file downloads and video streaming from assorted web sites, but though I haven't actually tried timing it I would definitely estimate my PSN downloads are rarely over 100-200 kB/s.
Since I've made some changes to the physical location of modem and router after I switched ISP I think I'm actually just gonna try a wired connection. I think I might be able to avoid too much extra cable clutter now.
Edit: Okay, the test results are in - and though don't have a clue why, PS3 wireless sucks.
I downloaded the 67 MB God of War 3 trailer from the EU store twice, first wireless then wired.
Wireless: 5 minutes 12 seconds - just over 200 kB/s if my calculations are correct.
Wired: 24 seconds - maxing out my connection at around 2.7 MB/s.
This really is rather strange, considering my PC - as mentioned - doesn't have any problems hitting max speeds on a wireless connection. And since the wireless signal on my PS3 is stable above 90% that really shouldn't be a factor either (and I generally haven't experienced unusual lag in games).
Well, in any case it's hard to argue with the vastly different numbers - so I guess I should just be happy that I can now keep my PS3 wired with the cable hidden behind the couch.
