Resident Evil Revelations 2 Vita release date unearthed

You'll need your handheld.

PlayStation Vita owners will finally be able to play Resident Evil Revelations 2 on 18th August.

The survival horror's Vita version includes all episodes of the game plus bucket-loads of bonus content in one portable package.

Revelations 2's twin bonus episodes are included as standard. These two short slices of extra action follow new characters Moira and Natalia and help flesh out their backstories.

Raid Mode is also included, along with DLC characters Wesker and Hunk, plus all manner of bonus costumes.

Revelations 2's Vita port is being handled by Chariot developer Frima Studio. It arrives several months after the game first launched for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One earlier this year in downloadable episodic form, before being collected together on disc.

As recent Resident Evil games go, Revelations 2 was something of a return to form. It ditched the action-heavy dramatics of Resident Evil 5 and 6 to return to a quieter, more intense and grounded adventure - more akin to Revelations 1 and Resi 4.

"Revelations 2 is a more ambitious and original production, comfortable with moving further away from the main series and through this gaining a distinct identity," Rich Stanton wrote in Eurogamer's Resident Evil: Revelations 2 review.

"This is a Resident Evil game, but it also feels like its own game. Quite apart from the plot threads and sacrificial NPCs, that's the biggest revelation of all."
