Polyphony "working on Gran Turismo 6 already"
Plus: Yamauchi talks future DLC plans.
Developer Polyphony Digital is "of course" working on Gran Turismo 6 already, studio boss Kazunori Yamauchi has revealed.
There's only so much a racing experience can be extended via DLC.
"Of course we're working on GT6 already," Yamauchi told IGN, "and I think what really will be the separating factor is something that we can't update through a DLC is something that obviously has to be saved for GT6.
"Things that we can provide through DLC we will, so that's really the market [sic - marked?] difference."
It took Sony and Polyphony nearly a year to release the first paid-for downloadable content for Gran Turismo 5, although big and free updates bridged the gap since launch. The Complete Pack of extras costs £9.49.
In the future, the wait for Gran Turismo 5 DLC should be less torturous.
"We're ready to release more expansions and content to add to the game," said Yamauchi.
"That will include cars and trucks that we'll be releasing maybe once every two months or so from here on out.
"What we do from here on is also really dependent on the reaction of the users to this first DLC that we just released," he added. "Now we have the feedback from our customers, we'll see how that will affect what we will do from here."
Eurogamer sat down with Gran Turismo 5 a year after launch to see what had changed. We declared the experience "undeniably a better one".
But even without DLC, Gran Turismo 5 has a lot of cars - 1031 at launch, to be precise. And Yamauchi has driven "most of them".
"I don't get to drive all of the cars that go into the game," he said, "but most of them I do. And out of those cars, some of them I do actually get to drive full-out on the track.
"That's important in really checking our simulation model every once in a while. I like to periodically check to make sure that we're on the right track when they pull in the physics. "
Eurogamer's Gran Turismo 5 review awarded 9/10.

If there isn't a sizeable increase in American and esp Euro cars in GT6, then they might as well re-name the game Japanese Turismo since thats a truer reflection of this series has become of late. PD need to realise that their catering to an International market (but mainly European with reguards to popularity of the series), they need to realise that its not just Japan that matters and create a game to reflect that.

Of course, PS4 will already be deprecated hardware at that time so they will wait until PS5 comes out. GOTY in 2018!

Despite the flaws in the game part of GT5, when you're on the track with a force feedback steering wheel, it rules!

After the shambles that was GT5 why bother, really.
If they think that making GT4 again and sticking on a few more pointless sections that anyone but the biggest gt fanboy will fawn over it they are mistaken.

Seriously, we will be playing Forza Motorsport 7 on the Xbox 360's successor before GT6 ever sees the light of day!

Unbelieveable really.

Maybe GT6 should take Forzas example by actually taking out content for each sequel, it might be able to be released every 2 years then. Just to let you know, Forza 4 has far less tracks than Forza 1. Give me more cars and tracks any day over shiny in car dashboards and kinect any day.

Plus some tracks look really low res, seems they didn't only take most of the cars from GT4 but some tracks as well.
After my brief experience I think GT5 is a joke.

I was a massive GT fan, 5 will be the last one I get on brand alone, it will need to be proven first if 6 is to come into my house.

I didn't know there still was a US car industry. As far as I know they focus on growing carrots and lettuce in Detroit now.
Probably not even that - I think the only industries doing well here are the Oil companies, and corporations like Lockheed-Martin and Northrop-Grumman. And oh, Halliburton, of course!
EDIT: EG, can you PLEASE fix the Quote tags?

Once I saw lift off oversteer on the Radicle I was done!
Also Dan says, they threw away the car manufacture data and based it all Pirelli tyre data.... Erm granted the tyres are the contact between the car and road, just as my feet are, but if I weigh 18 stone, I'm either a fat badly handling car, or lean fast muscle car but whatever I am I can't still wear the same trainers.... Catch my drift?

Personally I like both, for completely different reasons. Forza has always been about easy handling though for 4 they've thrown that out the window in favour of tail happy torque steer (which I'm happy to adapt to). Gran Turismo on the other hand has always been more about simulation physics, which they nail hands down. People seem to hate on the game because it's too hard for them, which is a shame.
I'm from the heady days of 8/16 Bit consoles, hard games were par for the course.
The visuals may sometimes lack a little clarity and fall into a pixelated mess sometimes but if you look closely, there is a hell of a lot more going on in the background than most, if not all, racing games. Get rid of the tinny thud and thump collision detection and actually add worthwhile damage and GT will be king again. Right now it's just hovering around the throne (which no-one occupies).
While Forza may have damage, it's comical at best and those Indiana Jones style fight sequence sounds whenever cars touch is a tad OTT.
But like I say, I enjoy playing both, for very different reasons.

Its like people who still talk about cakes being a lie.

Most rear wheel drive cars I know have the prop shaft down the exact middle of the car, so there isn't any problem with torque steer.
Just thought I should correct people when they start talking nonsense.

In a way I'm happy GT 5 has been outclassed in pretty much ever area (sometimes embarrassingly so), on and off the track. Because this way Polyphony will now have something to aim for. They will be forced to take their heads out of their arses and work a lot harder to impress people the next time around, Polyphony can't afford to be complacent especially with how fast Forza has evolved and in full knowledge that Turn 10 will be busy working on Forza 5. It can only be a good thing in the long run for racing game fans and the GT series as a whole.

You should probably read Wikipedia before quoting it.

No, I think you'll find that people hate on the game because after 6 years, what they actually got was a game that can only be described as incomplete. While admittedly the actual driving is excellent, the package surrounding it is a mess.
