Two Worlds II re-dated, Amazon only

TopWare making sure UK is "taken care of".

The good news: Two Worlds II will be released in the UK. The bad news: you won't be able to buy it in a high street shop.

Eurogamer can exclusively reveal that the UK version of Two Worlds II will now be an Amazon.co.uk online exclusive.

The release date has moved from this Friday, 25th February to this coming Tuesday, 1st March.

"TopWare Interactive is releasing the widely popular and highly anticipated Two Worlds II exclusively on Amazon in the UK on Tuesday, 1st of March, 2011," TopWare told Eurogamer. "Eager to get our game out to the RPG hungry masses, TopWare has decided to forego a retail release, and launch Two Worlds II solely on Amazon.com.

"If you had pre-ordered this award winning title elsewhere, they will not have stock as Amazon will be fulfilling all of the United Kingdom. Amazon will have all versions in stock, including the esteemed Royal Edition.

"With more than two million units already sold, TopWare is proud to bring the latest instalment in the Two Worlds franchise to the UK. The Royal Edition will be up by Friday afternoon so be patient.

"We will make sure that the UK is taken care of," TopWare added, "and gets all of the versions everyone else has."

Eurogamer scored Two Worlds II an accomplished 7/10.

Fuck sake, they really are taking the piss. Thank you oh mighty ones.

If you have a GAME order you're advised simply to cancel it and then re-order from Amazon. GAME is expected to state its position any minute now.
  • hypoBla5t #4 1 year ago

Surprised they didn't move the release date to 1/4/11 instead.
  • Dezm0nd #5 1 year ago

With every day passing you lose another sale against the juggernaut Dragon Age 2. Shame.
  • Darren #6 1 year ago

Hmmm, I seem to recall it was "exclusive" to Amazon in the UK when I bought my PC copy three weeks ago? ;)
  • kadooosh #7 1 year ago

    HA-HA

    simpsons style!
  • MagnificentDuke #8 1 year ago

Meh, I can wait a week and find a pre owned copy in a high street shop presumably.

    So that's £33 and £4 p+p.

I know they need to sell it somehow and also need to make up for the kraken style shipping loss but fuck me. Greedy. bastards. I love the game and all but even I wouldn't pay anywhere near that for it.

I must admit that a certain, largely skint part of me was hoping this wouldn't see a UK too soon so that I could concentrate on other games or at least wouldn't have to wait much longer for War in the North or Dungeon Siege, but then I finally read the review and I have to say that I really quite want it, sounds like it has the sort of meaningful character advancement that most modern "RPGs" sorely lack.

^Considering how long it's been out elsewhere though I'd have thought it would have released at a slightly lower price point than that, guess I'll wait a little while and see what's what.
  • Quint2020 #11 1 year ago

This has got to be the strangest launch of a game I've ever seen.
  • landlock #12 1 year ago

It's shipping from Germany sounds like there just shipping out the German versions to the UK rather then an actual UK release, LOL.

Gothic 4 had a pretty strange release aswell, Shopto.com got it instock everywhere else is still taking pre-orders (play.com, GAME) etc.

It really doesn't have any kind of meaningful character advancement in my experience of it. Not a bad game by any means though.

Fuck this bullshit, pre-order cancelled, I'll stick with Dragon Age 2. When I eventually pick up a copy it'll be by direct trade or second hand.
  • Makeem95 #15 1 year ago

I'll just buy it for a fraction of the current price when it's inevitably in the Steam Xmas sales.
  • andywilkie35 #16 1 year ago

Pah! Fuck this shit, can't be fucked if they're going to play silly buggers, especially after giving it to one of the worst online retailers in the UK. Laughable.
  • Mr_Brown #17 1 year ago

So with only using Amazon they've made sure noone in the UK will recieve it before the 25th March anyway. You would have thought they would have knocked down the price oradded some extra collectable stuff with every edition. My advise is just buy this and any Topware game from eBay then you can guarentee none of the money is going directly to them. Hopefully it will contribute towards them going bust.
  • arcam #18 1 year ago

IS it gonna be on Steam?
  • Xboxfanuk #19 1 year ago

Was this due to Somali Pirates?

Didn't the PC version of F1 2010 get a retail release only through Amazon?

Nah, this is just bollocks. They are shilling their prices, and fucking over their customers. It's quite barefaced, and quite stupid.
  • Tryhard #22 1 year ago

Was set to buy it Friday to, but to close to Dragon Age 2 now.And what with other games this year.I cannot see be picking it up at all in 2011.Shame on you,but my wallet thanks you.
  • shadowaspect #23 1 year ago

"£33 and £4 p+p"? No? Amazon themselves have it listed for £22.19, and free shipping. Unless it's only just changed to that, of course :)

I had this ordered at around £25 at Zavvi, i don't think I'll be re-ordering it at £33 - thanks, for nothing.
  • metallicorphan #26 1 year ago

@shadowaspect at £22.19 you are listing the PC version, the £33+£4 is for console versions

  • Goonboy #27 1 year ago

    @metallicorphan

Amazon does free shipping too with the super saver option and you still get it on release day.
  • ArcticGabe #28 1 year ago

    lol This is just sad
  • Triggerhappytel #29 1 year ago

I'm still vaguely interested in this, but to be honest I'm thinking of getting it pre-owned now as I don't really want those useless pricks at Topware to get my money. Two Worlds II's launch has been the biggest clusterfuck I've ever seen in a game's release.
  • comissars_handgun #30 1 year ago

Well that's settled I'm going to import the Asian version, since it's £35 for the 360 version on Play-Asia and that way I won't be rewarding their incompetence by getting it through Amazon.

I have or should I say had this game pre-ordered off gameplay.

Now just read that the publisher has taken the ridiculous decision to make the game an amazon exclusive.
They must be complete idiots. A game that is sold exclusively in an online store is not going to make them much money. It is unlikely to get anywhere near the top 20.

I'm not a big fan of amazon. They have poor customer service. Amazons idea of customer service is only allowing you to contact them by email then taking a couple of days to reply. When I have a problem I want to speak to someone over the phone not use email.

So I wont be getting two worlds 2 after all. The game might as well not exist.

"'TopWare Interactive is releasing the widely popular and highly anticipated Two Worlds II exclusively on Amazon in the UK on Tuesday, 1st of March, 2011,' TopWare told Eurogamer."

It might have been highly anticipated a month or two ago but I would stop blowing your own horn after this colossal fuck up.

I'm so annoyed how this has turned out, I was really looking forward to playing it but it's just way too close to other games for me to even think about bothering with it. It's not a nice thing to say but I hope it totally bombs sales-wise. I don't know what the F they have been doing but they don't deserve our money for such a shoddy release, awfully laid back attitude and total cock-up.
