Tekken X Street Fighter NOT at gamescom
Crossover confusion reigns.
Namco Bandai's recently announced Tekken X Street Fighter gamescom event will not feature Tekken X Street Fighter, as was suggested.
Earlier today Namco distributed a press release entitled: "The giants of fighting come face to face at gamescom for Tekken X Street Fighter."
The release said Tekken head honcho Katsuhiro Harada and Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono will "clash in a public spectacle", and gamers can compete in a live on-stage tournament.
"Sparks will fly as they come face to face for a deadly Tekken X Street Fighter duel between fight game greats at this year's vast gamescom event in Cologne, Germany," the release read.
However, Namco Bandai has confirmed to Eurogamer that Harada and Ono will play each other at Street Fighter X Tekken, not Tekken X Street Fighter.
Additionally, Street Fighter X Tekken will not playable "for the masses", but people will be picked out of the audience to participate in a competition to win goodies.
It's all a bit confusing, isn't it?
Crossover fighting games Street Fighter X Tekken and Tekken X Street Fighter were announced at last month's San Diego Comic-Con.
Capcom aims to release Street Fighter X Tekken in two years. Tekken X Street Fighter's release will follow.
Street Fighter stalwarts Ryu and Chun-Li, and Tekken favourites Kazuya and Nina, will be in Street Fighter X Tekken. Little is known about Tekken X Street Fighter, save for it will be a 3D Tekken game with Street Fighter characters.

Oh, and Capcom's version will be superior. The Tekken characters can fit into the Street Fighter universe if you only include they're signature moves, as shown by Kazuya in the gameplay vid. Seeing Ryu et al juggling opponents in Namco's version will look silly. Also, will they include Hadokens? Tekken has never had projectile attacks minus the useless ones in Tekken 6. They really should have just let Capcom make the game. Most people will buy that version anyway.

And I reckon that Hadoukens will be executed like the Devil (Jin)/Angel unblockable laser eye attacks.

"Why not call it Capcom x Namco and Namco x Capcom? All previous crossover fighting games have had the names of the developers in the title"
thats not true, it started with X-Men vs. Street Fighter then Marvel vs. Street Fighter. after that it became Marvel vs. Capcom
and they dont Called it Capcom x Namco. because that game already exsists. and SF vs. Tekken only has Street fighter and tekken characters in it, so it does make sense.

Capcom's Yoshinori Ono - ftw, after reading his comments, in there, lol
It would be a terrific error, otherwise, to write some thing like that, and everyone ends up playing Capcom's game, instead. I'm puzzled.

EUROGAMER.
Any chance of this at the Expo? (:

Obviously it's going to look like Tekken, but the last time we had a 3D Ryu in a 3D fighting game it was a less than thrilling experience. I dunno, although I love SF and am only vaguely interested in the Tekken series, bizzarely its Namco's riff on this venture that I want to play the most. To have a good 3D Street Fighter alongside the mighty SSF4 would be very cool.

Namco has got a hot potato on their hands with doing SF in 3D...I mean...Doing it well.
