Watch 15 minutes of Zelda: Triforce Heroes

Director suggests it will be a lengthy package, despite having no overworld.

Three-player dungeon-crawler The legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes now has 15 minutes of gameplay footage taken from E3 via Polygon.

We get to see some of the nifty designs Nintendo has crafted around the three-player totem mechanic wherein players can pile atop one another. This seems like it's used a ton in both combat and puzzles as bosses require folks to work together as a team.

Triforce Heroes has also got a cool Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light thing going wherein each player has different items. Some will have a bow, while others are equipped with bombs, for example, giving the game a somewhat asymmetrical quality to it.

Teamwork appears downright essential in combat as everyone shares the same health meter. Since dungeons can't be completed with only two heroes, you'll have to take care of one another. As another trio of adventurers once said, it's "all for one and one for all."

Earlier this week we discovered that Triforce Heroes wouldn't feature a two-player mode for its main campaign. But it does feature options for both solo-play and three-player co-op, online and off, along with a two-player option in the competitive mode.

When asked about the game's length, director Hiromasa Shikata told Kotaku, "Myself I'd like to say maybe an hour a day, an hour and a half to two hours a day, with three people playing together, there's probably about a month's worth of gameplay there."

That's a pretty rough answer, as there's plenty of variation based on skill level and whether you play it with other people or not, but it sounds like it's going to be a pretty lengthy undertaking.

That's probably a good thing as the Shikata also confirmed to Kotaku that there won't be an overworld - though there will be a castle, a town, and the competitive colosseum battle mode.

Zelda: Triforce Heroes is due this autumn exclusively on 3DS.
