Wartech sequel in development

Heading to arcades in 2008.

Japanese developer G.rev is working on an arcade sequel to Wartech: Senko no Ronde.

Ignored by most, the Ubisoft-distributed original was clearly popular enough in its native land to justify a return.

A mixture of beat-'em-up and shoot-'em-up, it saw players controlling one of two big shooty robots as they circled each other trying to blow one another away.

Dave McCarthy was very fond of it, although you seem to have been less so.

Still, as Kotaku notes, the arcade sequel will be playing to its home crowd, and will probably catch their attention when it pitches up next year.

You can find out a few more details by poking around the Japanese announcement. Although not many, admittedly.
