The Bitmap Brothers' Z coming to iOS

Peter Harrap drafted in to help.

The Bitmap Brothers' classic 1996 real-time strategy game Z has been revived and remade.

Digital publisher Kavcom has licensed the game and plans to launch the 2011 version, Z: The Game, for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, PC, Mac, Android devices and Blackberry Tab this year.

Z: The Game was developed by original creators The Bitmap Brothers in conjunction with Kavcom and programming legend Peter Harrap, who made 1980s platform game Wanted: Monty Mole for Gremlin Graphics.

"We're thrilled to be working with The Bitmap Brothers on the fantastic Z: The Game," Kavcom boss Tony Kavanagh said.

"Fans of this classic strategy title are in for a real treat - everything is in there, from the terrific comedy cutscenes to the frantic multiplayer mode, and with a much friendlier, intuitive interface. This is going to be the definitive version of Z."
