Steam to begin hosting mods

Not you lot from the forum. Games.

Valve has decided to host mods on digital distribution platform Steam.

The first batch, due to arrive this week, are Age of Chivalry, D.I.P.R.I.P., Insurgency, Synergy and Zombie Panic.

These will be free to anyone who owns a Source-based game, such as Half-Life 2 and Counter Strike: Source - Valve games running on the Source engine, basically.

Once installed, mods will appear in the My Games list, and also work with community Steamworks features.

Valve plans to add more mods to Steam in the future. We plan to get that East 17 song out of our heads in the meantime.
