Sierra doing Mummy game

To go with the film.

Sierra Entertainment plans to release the official Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor game a week after the film, on 8th August.

Eurocom is making it for Wii and PS2, while the wonderfully named A2M is handling the DS version.

The game will be third-person and follow events in the film, so you will be floppy-haired Rick O'Connell (Fraser) and his son Alex (Luke Ford), and clamber through ancient Chinese catacombs and over snowy mountains to defeat the nasty Dragon Emperor (Jet Li).

We're promised lots of shooting and fist fights, and a suitably adept combat system and arsenal to go with it. There will be some hieroglyphic hijinx going on as well.

"The Mummy is one of the most distinctive and expansive franchises in Universal's portfolio, and there is inherent gameplay in the property," said Bill Kispert, boss of Universal Pictures, wrapped in bandages.

"The new film amps up the action, introduces a ruthless new villain and takes our heroes to incredible new locations. We are thrilled to bring all these attributes to life in this game."
