Report: Microsoft revising 360 d-pad

Apparently to appeal to fighting fans.

Microsoft is preparing to launch a revision of the regular Xbox 360 controller featuring a new directional pad, according to a report.

Citing an unnamed source, Joystiq has said that the new d-pad will rise up about a quarter of an inch if you rotate it 90 degrees.

The raised d-pad could be aimed at fighting game fans, the blog speculated.

Microsoft has been pretty consistent with its controller design since the launch of Xbox 360 in 2005, although it did launch a controller with a tweaked d-pad back in 2008 to appeal to Pro Evolution Soccer fans.
