PS3 Mubi films cost 3 quid each

Monthly membership a tenner.

The Mubi film streaming service on PlayStation will charge £2.99/€3.59 per movie or £9.99/€12.99 for an all-you-can-watch monthly pass.

That's according to a post on the European PlayStation blog.

Mubi will be available on PlayStation 3 in October. The first regions with the service will be UK, Ireland, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Australia and New Zealand.

Mubi is a picky film streaming service with a social element. The emphasis is on films like Amelie, Pan's Labyrinth and Mulholland Dr. rather than Jackass: The Movie, Transformers and Mamma Mia.

The social element means you can rate and become fans of films and share recommendations with friends. You'll get real-time updates on what your chums like, too - to help you spot films you might otherwise overlook.

Will Mubi leave us now?
