A fresh trailer for PlayStation shows some of its most popular video game characters enjoying a game of football.

Joel and Ellie (shown briefly enough that you could mistake them for Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey) ride on horseback into a giant footy stadium and throw the match ball to waiting players.

Platforming mascot Astrobot assists with the pre-match coin toss, while Kratos and Atreus watch from the stands, the former blowing his magical horn.

But as luck should have it, both Peter Parker and Miles Morales are on hand to swing in and save the day, sorting the situation by spraying the screen with their sticky white threads.

The advert is designed to highlight PlayStation's ongoing sponsorship of the UEFA Champions League. Back in 2021, Kratos, Uncharted's Nathan Drake, Horizon's Aloy plus Ratchet and Clank featured in a similar TV spot - which you can see below. I think this year's is better!

Not to be outdone, Sony also used the Sphere to advertise Marvel's Spider-Man 2 using a video which showcased Venom's gaping maw.
