Oh no! Darkest Dungeon coming to PS4 and Vita in spring

I mean that in a good way.

Roaring fires, clanging jugs of beer, blustery walks in starkly lit woods, oh all the pleasures to warm a winter heart. Darkest Dungeon won't do that. In Darkest Dungeon your heroes die of heart attacks from too much stress; not even an anti-SAD light can penetrate its black heart.

But rejoice! For Darkest Dungeon is now coming to PlayStation 4 and Vita, and in spring, a naturally uplifting time of year. It'll be on show at the PlayStation Experience in San Francisco in early December, and beyond that nugget of information there's not much else to know. Maybe it will be Cross-Buy? It'd make a perfect travel game.

Darkest Dungeon is in Early Access on PC and will be released in full - even though it already feels finished - on 19th January 2016.

It's a side-scrolling, turn-based dungeon-crawler that soon turns into a balancing act of managing your stable of characters' maladies and stress, lest they pop their clogs - permanently - while on mission. It's all steeped in vile, odorous charm and is presented wonderfully. How refreshing to play game where your heroes can be as repugnant as your enemies, because let's face it, they're killers, not dinner party guests.

Darkest Dungeon is made by small Canadian team Red Hook.
