No new colours for Euro DS

Advantage Japan.

Nintendo has confirmed to Eurogamer this afternoon that it has no plans to release new DS Lite colours in Europe at this time.

It was speaking in the aftermath of two new paint-jobs being unveiled in Japan - Metallic Rose and Gloss Silver. Both of these are due to go on sale across the region on 23rd June. That home advantage strikes again.

However, far from being unpopular elsewhere, Nintendo has pumped out figures today revealing more than five million people worldwide have been playing each other using the DS Wi-Fi service. More than 200 million gameplay sessions have been racked up, with Animal Crossing: Wild World proving to be the crowd's firm favourite.

Mario Kart DS was close behind, though, followed by Metroid Prime: Hunters, Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl. All of which are solidly recommended.

Pop over to the Nintendo Japan website to have a look at the new DS Lite colours.
