Nintendo's first DS title for Wii U is Brain Training

UPDATE: Now available free in the UK for limited time.

UPDATE 13/6/14 10:30am: DS puzzler Dr Kawashima's Brain Training: How Old is Your Brain? is now available to download from the Wii U eShop in the UK.

As in Japan earlier this month, the title is currently available free for a limited time - until 3rd July in the UK - to celebrate it being the first DS game re-released for the Wii U Virtual Console.

There's no word yet on what other DS games will be re-released as downloads for Wii U - or how much they'll usually cost.

ORIGINAL STORY 4/6/14 9.10am: Nintendo has released its first DS game for the Wii U's Virtual Console - the mega-selling puzzler Brain Training.

As a special offer, Japanese users can currently nab the game for no cost until 30th June (thanks, NintenDaan).

After that date it will be sold for a to be announced price.

Nintendo had previously not mentioned the release, although first made reference to DS games coming to Wii U back in January.

It's likely that support was added in yesterday's Wii U system refresh - the offer is only available to Japanese users who have updated their consoles.

Game Boy Advance titles began launching on Wii U Virtual Console earlier this year, joining NES and SNES games on the service.

Nintendo UK told Eurogamer it had nothing to announce yet on when DS games would filter through to Europe.
