Nintendo working on a fix for the Wii U's lengthy load times

Time enough at last...

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has confirmed that the company is working on a fix for the system's obscenely long load times when switching between applications.

Iwata addressed the performance issue during the latest Japanese Nintendo Direct presentation (via The Verge), though there was no mention of when a possible patch will be released.

Currently, the load times range a great deal, but they tend to drag on for an uncomfortably long stretch. Richard Leadbetter noted in his Digital Foundry report that the Miiverse took eight seconds to load, while video chat took a whopping 40 seconds. Dang!

Elsewhere, the woman below clocks entering the settings menu at over 17 seconds, while reverting back to the main menu via the Home button takes 24 seconds.
