Nintendo bringing Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem to smartphones next

Miitomo now has 10m users.

Nintendo's next smartphone apps will be new Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem games.

Just hand over your money now.

Both will arrive this autumn and are described as "pure game applications", rather than the more app-like Miitomo.

Nintendo's first smartphone app Miitomo now has 10m unique users, it was also announced today.

Animal Crossing for smartphones will connect with "the world of Animal Crossing for dedicated gaming systems", Nintendo said, although it declined to mention whether this referred to the already-launched Animal Crossing: New Leaf on 3DS or a future installment.

"By playing both Animal Crossing games, users will find increased enjoyment," Nintendo added

Fire Emblem, meanwhile, will be "more accessible" on smartphone than previous entries in the franchise, although will still be a strategy RPG.

"Both of these are pure game applications," Nintendo concluded. "Compared to Miitomo, they have more prominent game elements, and the game content will tie closely into Nintendo's dedicated games business."

There's no word yet on whether the games will be available for free or as a paid download.
