What's New?

Tumbleweed.

Summer's here, and that means that all we can look forward to between now and the gale force splish splosh of winter are burnt crumpets, bikini-related euphemisms and disinterested publishers. Already our weekly thirst for gaming treats is going unquenched, with a list this week so weak and spindly that most of the below is feigned enthusiasm.

This week's unexpected blockbuster (see) is Armored Core 3. In all fairness, we have been shown plenty of press cuttings by its PR that suggest it deserves merit, but then again we've also flicked through a few of these reviews and they suggest that it's only OK. We'll let you know if it transcends our desire to spend evenings at the pub.

Second most prominent on the interestometer, a frankly ridiculous device we just invented that will never live beyond this paragraph, is Konami's Dancing Stage Megamix, a game that Kristan is reviewing. Unfortunately he won't agree to being filmed "reviewing" it, but we're reliably informed that he looks like an 80-year-old Chris Evans doing the funky chicken.

Oh boy what the hell else. There are those two cynically ported Resident Evil re-releases for the GameCube, but if Capcom can't be arsed to update them at all then we can't be bothered to write any scintillating copy about them either. At least they're only £25 each. They are probably worth it if you don't own a Dreamcast or a PSX - if you do, then find a second hand or indie games shop and get them both for £25.

And that's roughly your lot. Not a single shop-bound game this week. Keep an eye on next week's charts for no particular sign of Pro Beach Soccer or Darkened Skye and, finally, we won't try and sell you on Frogger Beyond because, quite frankly, you know better.
