Majesco has signed a deal with DreamWorks to produce Game Boy Advance Video versions of tip top animated movies Shrek, Shrek 2 and Shark Tale.

And this is only the beginning, apparently, since Majesco intends to release a whole slew of feature length films for Nintendo's handhelds thanks to its proprietary video compression technology. All will be compatible with the GBA, GBA SP, Nintendo DS and the forthcoming Game Boy Micro.

Majesco has yet to reveal whether any other film studios are planning on GBA releases, but judging by the large number of UMD movie discs sold for the PSP over in the States it's clear that there's a market for handheld movie watching, and it seems likely that others will follow suit.

Shrek, Shrek 2 and Shark Tale are slated for a US release this October, priced at $19.99. There's no word on when we might see them in Europe, but we'll keep you posted.
