GP32 will not appear in Europe

It's been a long time coming, and now it's not coming at all.

The Korean GP32 handheld will not be released in Europe, according to reports from chief proponents Lik-Sang, who stock the Korean version on their website.

According to Lik-Sang, GP32 parent company Gamepark is in financial difficulties, and as a result has decided to shelve plans for a European release in March 2004. And, let's be honest, even the healthiest of companies would have trouble stepping into the current handheld market - as SNK learnt to their cost with the Neo Geo Pocket Color.

However unlike the NGPC (or even the N-Gage), the GP32 was expected to be cheap and well supported, with an array of emulators and other bits of software already available, including MP3 players, and a larger screen allowing for more interesting handheld releases.
