Colin McRae 04 movie released

Those busy folks over at Codemasters have just posted the first movie footage of Colin McRae 04 here, available in a variety of download flavours to suit your needs.

The high quality download weighs in at 9.72MB, and shows off the game's replay mode to pretty decent effect, although to be honest, replay modes in driving games always make the game look lovely. We reckon it's Xbox footage, in case you were wondering, and sports the tag line "Rally reinvented by the people who invented the rally game". Hmm, we're sure members of the old Magnetic Fields team might have something to say about that, but hey, as long as it's good.

The game itself is due for release on PS2 and Xbox "later this year", which probably means late October, and will feature more cars and more rallying modes, including 4-wheel drive, 2-wheel drive, Group B and Expert championships, while the graphics engine has apparently been "turbo-charged" to deliver "more detailed environments and stages through the fresh international rally courses". The replay cameras have also been tweaked to provide "dramatic highlights" in "stunning detail".

Last year's version was good, but suffered from lacklustre visuals, so let's hope Codies can get back on track this time around. Terrible pun, sorry.
