American McGee gets comical

Games-to-graphic novels.

An agreement has been signed to publish a range of graphic novels based on American McGee's games.

The deal between comic book company, Cellar Door Publishing, and McGee's videogame, film, and television production company, The Mauretania Import Export Company (TMIEC), will see trade paperbacks of properties Bad Day LA, American McGee's Oz, and American McGee's Grimm, written and illustrated by some of the industries "top creative talent".

"Cellar Door has taken on three projects that are dear to me," said McGee, who's worked on games American McGee's Alice (he made it, you see), DOOM, and the recently-released Scrapland. "Graphic novels are a natural extension into the stories I develop and build. Graphic art drives each and every one of the stories that I write; from the character concepts to the environment sketches, each new project becomes a fount of imagery. I am excited, and I think fans will be too, that Cellar Door is going to open this flow of imagery to the outside world, and in the best way possible."

McGee is currently working on Bad Day LA, an action-adventure game set for an early 2006 release on PC and Xbox.
